Style Dialogue

Dialogue of Styles is a permanent design section by SMD Decoration, dedicated to exploring interior design styles from around the world and how they can be interpreted and applied within Saudi, Gulf, and Arab spaces. In each article, two styles from different cultures meet in a design dialogue — such as Scandinavian and traditional Arab design, or warm Mediterranean and serene Japanese aesthetics. The focus is on understanding each style's colors, materials, ornaments, and philosophy without competition, comparison, or cultural stereotyping. The section presents practical ideas for majlis spaces, living rooms, villas, restaurants, cafés, and media rooms, guided by the 70/20/10 color distribution principle. It was launched alongside the atmosphere of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the convergence of global cultures offered a unique opportunity to explore design identities, yet its value remains timeless because design styles endure beyond any event. SMD Decoration does not copy cultures; it studies and draws inspiration from them — because every great design begins with an idea.
